Zhouzhuang watertown is reputed as the best region of rivers and lakes in China. This charming ancient town is surrounded and bisected by streams. Inside the town, riverways intersect one another, and houses are all built on riverside. More than ten stone bridges span over the water lanes, providing convenient passage for the local people. All of them were built between the Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

Zhouzhuang watertown is not only famous for its beautiful scenery, but also known for its culture heritages. Many ancient and modern scholars lived in or visited the town. The must see attractions in Zhouzhuang include the Hall of Shen’s Residence, the Hall of Zhang’s Residence, Double Bridge, Fu’an Bridge, Chengxu Taoist Temple, Chengxu Taoist Temple, QuanfuTemple, South lake. There are lots of boat tours that will take you all around to see the entire town.

There are many tasty local food in Zhouzhuang, like Wansan pig’s upper leg, Wansan cake, Sesame cakes, salt and pepper cake, green cake, shrimp, etc. All are very delicious and very popular among the tourists. The most famous one is Wansan pig’s upper leg, which originated in the family of Shen Wamsan who was the first millionaire of the south of Yantze River in the early Qing Dynasty. It is a necessary dish when entertain guests. "Wansan Family Feast” is the best restaurant to taste the local classical food, which located on the Fu'an Bridge and still maintains the Ming-style.
