Location
130 km (82 miles) southwest of Hangzhou, where the Jinhua and Chu Rivers join to become the Lan River.
History
Lanxi is under the administrative control of the nearby city of Jinhua. The county is famous as the birthplace of the ancient statesman Zhuge Liang, and his descendants still live in a village called Zhuge Town. Six-cave Mountain in Lanxi is said to contain the longest subterranean river in China.
Language
Lanxi lies within the area of Wu dialects, which are similar to the dialects of Hangzhou and Shanghai.
