Huangshan Travel Tips

The Best Time to Travel to the Yellow Mountain:

The mountain is nice for visitors to go all year round. In spring, the blooming flowers and the flesh, crisp air make you never want to leave. In summer, the weather is cool and tranquil; It is the best time to enjoy the Sea of Clouds-one of the famed four mountains of that mountain and other three are Oddly-shaped Pines, Grotesque Rocks and Hot Springs. In autumn, the weather is most comfortable and scenery is stunningly beautiful. However, it's high season and the area is more crowded and it cost a bit more. Winter is cold, but the snow makes the mountain into a fairyland. Numerous ravines and peaks in Huangshan Mountain are covered with snow and ice. And the pine trees, the grass and the rocks over hill and dale, being enveloped in mist and drizzle, and to-gather with icicles, look as a glittering and translucent coral world, making one feet to be in the Crystal palace. Visitors are intoxicated and fascinated in such a picturesque landscape that they will forget going back home. Winter is the low season so less crowded and cheaper to travel. Try to avoid the National Holidays.

What shouldn't I do when I am climbing the Yellow Mountain?

1. Do not smoke freely. Smoking is prohibited except in a few smoking designated spots. So do your part of preventing a fire caused by cigarettes which have destroyed part of the Yellow Mountain before. Instead breathe the fresh air.

2. Do not carry umbrellas as the path is narrow and you may hit or blocked other passing tourists. Also umbrella can be blown away by a sudden gust of wind.

3. Do not throw rubbish inconsiderately. If you see the old men carrying all the material up and carrying all the rubbish down the steep mountain steps every day, I am sure you would not want to waste anything up there or throw any rubbish inconsiderately. Keep Huangshan beautiful and natural for everyone who is visiting or will visit in the future.

4. Do not bring too much luggage with you up the mountian.It will make you very tired.Just put it at hotel in downtown Huangshan City.

Viewing Sun Rise

Depend on weather, you may get a chance to witness this much talked about experience of seeing the red sun shooting out above the clouds in Huangshan. Check with your tour guide and hotel, there is a predictability factor of the chance of seeing sunrise and expected time of sunrise. So plan the time of the year of your trip if this is a must. You have to do a 10-20 minutes short hike up the steps to site of watching sunrise in the dark and so bring a torch light if your hotel does not supply one. Remember you may be too tired in waking up if you have been hiking the previous day. I woke up just in time to catch sunrise around my hotel.

Festival

Except for the traditional festivals, Huangshan International Tourism Festival is usually held in October or November. Tourists can appreciate the folk-custom performances in the Opening Ceremony and many exhibitions of handcrafts, paintings and calligraphies. The evening parties are also amazing.
